Weimaraners - Information - General Description

Weimaraners are graceful medium-sized dogs that combine aristocratic features with stamina, speed and alertness. These dogs are sometimes called "Silver Ghosts" for their elegant appearance and effortless gait. In addition, it is a devoted companion dog. The Weimaraner belongs to the sporting group of dogs. It is one of the dog breeds described as "versatile Continental hunting dogs."
The head is rather long with a moderate stop. The expression of the face is keen and intelligent. Ears are long, a little folded and set high. Gray or blue-gray eyes are set apart. The neck is long. The back set in a straight line should be strong, the chest well developed. Legs are straight and long. The tail is docked. The Weimaraner's short and smooth coat is gray. Silver gray is preferable. Hues of mouse or roe gray are also acceptable. There can be a small white marking on the chest.
Height: 25 to 27 inches in dogs and 23-25 inches in bitches.
Weight: 70-86 pounds.
Life Expectancy: around 15 years.
Weimaraners - Information - Is this Your Breed?
Apparently, Weimaraners are not the dogs for everyone. First and foremost, they are very active and people-oriented dogs. They don't do well in apartments with small children. They require obedience training and much exercise to maintain perfect physical and mental condition.
The size, abundance of energy and bright personality of Weimaraners are to be considered before committing yourself to Weimaraner ownership. Ask yourself if you have enough time for exercising, training, feeding, bathing and grooming a Weimaraner.
You are aware that a dog grows and gets old as a human does. Its personality and needs change as well. Remember that having made up your mind to add a Weimaraner to your family, you agree to accept a whole set of responsibilities. Weimaraners need and deserve a lot of personal attention on your part and on the part of your family members.
