Being very energetic and enthusiastic hunters, these hounds require a lot of training and they are not recommended for living in an apartment. These hounds are excellent watchdogs and they will bark at suspicious noises. They can be aggressive with other hounds.

Though hounds are very active and full of energy they can be rather shy and therefore they should be socialized well at an early age to combat a tendency for timidity. Some hounds tend to be a bit willful, distractible and reserved with strangers. Every dog weimaraner needs special training when it's still a puppy.
